SBCA Environmental Meeting Rescheduled-No Meeting on January 6th

The SBCA January meeting that was scheduled for January 6th will be postponed until Tentatively January 29th.  Please stay updated on www.SunsetBeachCivicAssociation.org to confirm this date.  We would like to give our Association an Update on Biggert Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act however an update is not available at this time.  We are hoping that we may have an update by the end of this month.  We will keep you posted!  If you have neighbors who do not have internet access and are not on the email list please share this information with them.

Come one, Come All.  Santa & Mrs. Claus will lead the way with their horse drawn wagon as we sing and stroll the streets of Sunset Beach.  Along the way we will be invited to join neighbors at designated Merriment Stops where we will enjoy treats & libations.  The Holiday Stroll will begin at the Pavilion at 4pm.  Bring your family, friends & pets and don your Holiday wear.  After the stroll you are invited to join us at KaTiki for Smoked Wings, Smoked Pork, Egg Nog & Live Music by Holey Miss Moley. If you would like to volunteer to host a Merriment Stop please contact Eric Corson at [email protected] or Dawn Fader at [email protected].  After the event, send your Holiday Stroll Photos to [email protected].

Volunteers Needed for Beach Clean Up, This Saturday December 14th, 2013 @ 9am

Beach Clean Ups:  Beach Clean Up Continues to meet the Second Saturday of every month at the Sunset Beach Pavilion at 9am and finishes approximately 12pm. Come for an hour or stay for 3 hrs. Plug the dates into your phones. Contact Steve Yost if you would like to volunteer, [email protected].

On Christmas Eve, as the sun goes down the streets of Sunset Beach will sparkle with an extraordinary luminary display with over 2400 candles.  This is a volunteer effort.  We need your help to keep this tradition alive.  The Following Streets are still available. If you can volunteer to place luminaries and light candles on one of the following streets please contact Dawn Fader at [email protected] or 727-687-2522.  Volunteering includes picking up the sand from designated sandpiles after Dec 16th, placing luminaries on the street on Christmas Eve day, lighting the candles at dusk on Christmas Eve and picking up bags the next morning.

  • 79th Ave
  • 79th Terrace
  • 80th Ave.
  • Harrell Ave.
  • East Bay from Harrell to 87th
  • West Gulf from Gulf Blvd to 90th Ave.
  • West Gulf from 90th Ave to 87th Ave.

The sand will be delivered by the City on approximately December 16th.  Get your sand early if possible to prevent moisture if it rains.  There will be 3 sand piles this year.  The North End Sand Pile will be across the street from Caddy’s at the South end of the Lion’s Club parking lot between Harrell and West Gulf.  The Mid Island Sand Pile will be at approximately 85th and West Gulf Blvd. on the East Side of the road. The South End Sand Pile will be just North of Mansions by the Sea at the southernmost part of the Pavilion Parking lot on the West side of West Gulf Blvd.

***Luminary Pick Up Party All volunteers can Pick Up your Luminary Supplies on Thursday, December 19th anytime between 6pm and 8:30 pm at 8101 Bayshore Dr.  As a Thank You for volunteering we will have treats & libations to share.  Pick up your supplies and stay for the party!

We will have a Registration Table to Renew your Annual Memberships, Volunteer for Luminaries & Volunteer for Merriment Stops. Sunset Beach T-Shirts will be for Sale. T-Shirts are available at our events only, plan ahead. Parking passes will be available for the lot located by the Pavilion. The bathrooms at the Pavilion will be available for use. On March 5th at 6:30pm, Mayor Bob Minning will present the State of the City address. This will be followed by a meet and greet with commissioner candidates for District 4. All candidates will be present and Tom Scherberger will moderate. Pizza will be served as well.
