Hello Sunset Beach. It’s that time of year again. Every year the birds fly south to get away from the cold rain, sleet and snow. Welcome back Snowbirds & a sunny welcome to our beloved Canadian friends. Welcome back to Paradise. Enjoy the soft sands, the friendly neighbors & the beautiful gulf beaches that us locals get to enjoy every day. Take a nice bike ride around the island, go for a swim, try a paddleboard or kayak ride. Soak up the sunshine and remember, it doesn’t snow on Sunset Beach. There’s no place like Sunset Beach. Please join us for our annual fundraiser The Italian Dinner that sells out fast so call me or any board member for your tickets. We will also be collecting food for St. Petersburg Food Clinic again this year. Coming up on March 3rd is our State of the City Address with Mayor Minning. There is a lot going on here so have your questions & comments ready. On March 8th we will have our annual garage sale. Dust off your old treasures and put a price tag on them. Someone will buy them. Calling all Volunteers. The SBCA wants YOU!
The Sunset Beach Civic Association will be electing a new Board of Directors at the BBQ on April 3rd. The Board of Directors is comprised of 12 Members including the Officers; President, Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. Our Directors volunteer in various ways including: Tshirt and Membership Sales, Serving Food & Bartending at Events, Soliciting Raffles Prizes & Donations, Writing Newsletter & Website Articles, Book keeping & Accounting, Organizing Events, Coordinating Volunteers, participating in Beach Clean Ups, Researching and Spearheading Community Improvement Projects and more. We have volunteer opportunities Big and Small. We appreciate whatever time you can spare. Let us put your talents to good use. If you have interest in becoming more involved please contact a current member of the Board of Directors or email [email protected].
SBCA Environmental Meeting Rescheduled-No Meeting on January 6th
The SBCA January meeting that was scheduled for January 6th will be postponed until Tentatively January 29th. Please stay updated on www.SunsetBeachCivicAssociation.org to confirm this date. We would like to give our Association an Update on Biggert Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act however an update is not available at this time. We are hoping that we may have an update by the end of this month. We will keep you posted! If you have neighbors who do not have internet access and are not on the email list please share this information with them.
Happy Fall Sunset Beach Neighbors & Welcome Back Northern friends. After a long hot summer, we are ready for a break from the heat. After enjoying our beautiful beach all summer, sipping Margaritas at our favorite water holes, it time for your Sunset Beach Civic Association to get back to work. We are gearing up for our 3rd Annual Bonfire, The 7th Annual Holiday Stroll, Christmas Eve Luminaries & our Winter Member meeting. As you will notice, the newsletter has a new look & feel. Our goal is to keep everyone informed of upcoming events with our Printed Newsletter and continue to grow our website that can be used to update residents more frequently. The website (www.SunsetBeachCivicAssociation.org) is available to all Sunset Beach Residents, SBCA Members & Non-Members to Stay Connected on Sunset Beach Events, news from our Commissioner and news from the City of TI. The Newsletter will continue to go out once quarterly to keep everyone up to date. We have a few projects in the works including replacing the Living On Island Time Sign & adding shade at our Playground at the Pavilion. Please let us know if you have any community projects that you would like for us to help you to explore as we begin a new year with the SBCA. As we approach the Holiday Season, I would like to wish you Happy Holidays to you and yours. Come out and celebrate with us!
