The cottage, at 8250 W. Gulf Blvd., is a family owned home with original knotty pine and cedar walls. When they first purchased their home there were 7 coats of paint on all 3 bedroom walls. All the boards were planed, taking them down to the original finish. This home was sold as a tear down but the Porterfields saw the potential and valued the historical “character of the old Sunset Beach”.
The cottage was built in 1940 and a doctor used the home as a weekend place. After selling the cottage the last thing heard from him was that he went sailing with the selling price.
The beautiful ’54 Cadillac has been owned by the family for 20 yrs and the exterior has been refurbished to its original splendor.
